It turns out that someone was planting false documents about British policy in WW II in the UK's National Archives. See
this for more. Now several prominent British historians are asking the person responsible be punished. Once the documents were found to be forgeries it turned out to be easy to find the culprit. For medical reasons no prosecution was attempted. Continued practices like this will only undermine the archives, whose reputation is based on the accuracy of their contents.
